Hi
I'm looking for a pattern to use up 7 balls of medium-weight wool - Phil Air by Phildar. I have 7 x 50g balls but each ball only has 59m or 65 yds. I have a pair of 7mm needles, a pair of 8mm needles and a 7mm circular needle. My original plan was to knit a ribbed shrug but I quickly realised I would need to buy a dozen more balls to finish it given the low yardage (it would make a very expensive shrug!).
So, I've been looking at patterns for shrugs, boleros and cropped cardis but haven't found anything I can knit with this wool and needles.
Would anyone have a suggestion for a pattern other than a scarf. I'd say my level is advanced beginner.
Thanks ever so much!

| I know you don't want to knit another scarf -- but maybe you might consider a triangular one. I think they are more versatile than long ones. 466 yards would make something nice sized for your shoulders. |

Hi
Thanks for the idea. A shawl is a good idea. I also have a pattern for a capelet (a kind of a shrug) that I like.
Thanks again!

My suggestion would be to make slippers, scarves, snuggle mats for animals and donate them. The vets in my area love my snuggle mats that I make from my yarn and the put them into the cages for the
animals to snuggle in. Nursing homes love to receive slippers, lap throws or shawls.

Hi Judy
That's a fabulous idea. I used up the wool I had by knitting a couple of shrugs but I'm starting to build up a stash and would love to knit say a shawl for an elderly person, especially with winter on its way.
Kind regards

good morning.
I don't know anyone else that knits or I'd ask them to save me the
left over stash. Here in Dayton, Ohio there is a Hospice of Dayton for the terminally ill. Last year I made two bags of slippers for the patients and their families that come and stay. The floors are all carpeted so no
chance of falling.
I have bins full of yarn that I have gotten on sale. Lord I can't pass up
a Joann's sale, especially with my coupons I get in the emails.
How says I can only print out just one coupon....lol
There are so many things I want to knit and donate that my fingers
just don't work fast enough.

I have yet to buy any patterns for afghans, scarves etc.
there is a website that I just love:
http://www.knittingonthenet.com/stitches.htm
from there I select a KNITS & PURLS stitches that I like.
from the list of stitches I make my scarves, shawls etc.
All you have to do is look at another pattern and decided how wide.
How long and go from there. Then I plan on making pockets
to sew on in a moss stitck or a box stitch.
there is a pattern called Readers Wrap Shawl that I like.
I already know it is 20 inches wide and 60 inches long. Pockets
are 6 inches wide. That's all the info I need.
Hope this helps in you deciding on how to make a shawl, scarf, hat.
Hats: as long as you know how many to CO, the rest is easy, just
decided what stitch you want to use after the ribbing.
Gosh I have rambled on.
Feel free to email me
